Jana Claxton

Jana Claxton currently serves as the director of secondary curriculum and instruction for Irving ISD in Irving, Texas. She is passionate about high-impact instructional strategies, bringing clarity to the critical work of collaborative teams, and student-centered learning. She has been an educator for more than 17 years, having served as a professional learning coordinator, student support coordinator, strategic design coach, RTI facilitator, and teacher. She has worked primarily in high-poverty, diverse schools.

Jana has had a leading role in the districtwide redesign of learning community structures, frameworks, and practices in large districts. She has participated in the work of district-level guiding coalitions and coordinated the efforts of multi-year districtwide PLC growth plans that have led to Model PLC at Work® schools. She is a member of the Learning Forward Texas Board of Directors.

Jana earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of North Texas and a master’s degree in educational administration from Lamar University.
