Janice L. Krouse

Janice L. Krouse, EdD, has over 25 years of experience in mathematics education. As a member of the mathematics faculty at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA), she has served as the curriculum and assessment leader for mathematics, mathematics placement coordinator, and co-chair for personalized learning plans. In these roles, Dr. Krouse has guided teachers in their use of collaboration and higher-order thinking in the classroom, instructional strategies, and formative assessment. She also actively promotes the use of writing in the mathematics classroom. In addition, Dr. Krouse provides professional development and curricular support to schools in Illinois and beyond.

Dr. Krouse has served as president of the Mathematics Department Heads of the Western Chicago Suburbs. She is a regular presenter at the National and Illinois Councils of Teachers of Mathematics Conferences, and is an active member of the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics.

Dr. Krouse earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in mathematical sciences from Clemson (SC) University, and a doctorate in mathematics education from the University of Pittsburgh (PA). She is also a former mathematics teacher for the Laurel Junior-Senior High School in New Castle, Pennsylvania.
