Ken Proulx is the principal of Newport Middle School in Newport, North Carolina. He has 30 years of experience in public education and has spent 20 years as a building principal in elementary, middle, and high school. By focusing his school’s work on closing achievement gaps, delivering high-quality classroom instruction, and supporting a positive school culture, Ken has led three schools to exceed academic growth; each school has finished in the top ten percent in North Carolina in school growth.
In 2021, Ken became the principal of East Chapel Hill High School. Ken was awarded “Principal of the Year” by Carteret County Schools in May 2023.
As a school leader, Ken has worked with districts in implementing professional learning communities, developing and implementing an effective teacher framework to support and evaluate classroom instruction, and building positive school cultures that support the success of every child.
