Michael McDowell

Michael McDowell, EdD, is the superintendent of the Ross School District in California. During his sixteen years as a public school educator, he has also served in the roles of classroom teacher, academic and athletic coach, school principal, and assistant superintendent of personnel and instruction. In addition, Dr. McDowell was a national faculty member for the Buck Institute of Education, adjunct professor at San Francisco State University, a school development coach at the New Tech Network, and an advisor to educational organizations focused on equity, excellence, and innovation.

A prolific author and presenter, Dr. McDowell is recognized as one of the leading authorities on integrating innovative and impactful practices into schools. He delivers keynotes and executive coaching to heads of school around the world and partners with educational leaders to implement high-leverage strategies that enhance teaching and learning in classrooms, schools, and systems.

Dr. McDowell holds a BS in environmental science and a MA in curriculum and instruction from the University of Redlands. He also holds an EdD from the University of La Verne.
