Molly Capps

Dr. Molly Capps is a principal for Moore County Schools in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Her first principalship was with a priority school in jeopardy of being taken over by the state. After five years of working through many challenges, the school won multiple state and national recognitions, exceeding growth and coming out of priority school status.

Dr. Capps was later appointed as the new principal of McDeeds Creek Elementary School (a newly constructed school within the school district). Within its first three years, the school was recognized as a Model Professional Learning Communities (PLC) at Work® school. Later, it was recognized as a high-performing school with at least 80% of students meeting or exceeding state expectations on end-of-year assessments in both proficiency and student growth.

Dr. Capps has been recognized as a North Carolina “30 under 30” Cheerleading Coach of the Year as well as a member of Cumberland County’s “40 under 40” Leaders. She is an active member of the Pinehurst Rotary Club and serves as the program chair for the organization.

Dr. Capps is a former middle and high school teacher and coach as well as a district curriculum specialist for all K–12 schools, instructional coaches, and reading interventionists. She has been a principal for over a decade. Her school was just recently nominated as a National Blue Ribbon School for the state of North Carolina.
