Sharon Rendon

Sharon Rendon is director of professional learning for the CPM Educational Program, a nonprofit organization, where she specializes in designing and delivering professional learning for secondary math teachers. She leads a team of 30 members who have developed a three-year learning progression for teachers new to a student centered approach to mathematics. Sharon has also been an adjunct instructor for Black Hills State University, teaching courses for the South Dakota Counts program. She has experience facilitating teachers through the development of district curriculum guides and common assessments. Sharon has been in public education for more than 25 years.

Sharon has taught at both the middle and high school levels. She was a math coach and secondary math coordinator for Rapid City Area Schools in South Dakota. She successfully led the secondary math program as staff transitioned to an inquiry instructional approach to mathematics and implemented a professional learning community.

Sharon serves on the national board as the second vice president for NCSM, mathematics leadership organization. She has presented at numerous state math conferences and at the CPM National Conference and NCSM Annual Conference.

Sharon received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Black Hills State University.
