Vanessa Reyes is a high school principal with over 22 years of experience in secondary education. She is passionate about leading in ethnically and socioeconomically diverse communities and has led two different schools to Model PLC at Work® certification.

Vanessa Reyes is a dedicated secondary school principal in Texas with over 22 years of experience in education, having served as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, intermediate school principal, and high school principal in ethnically and socioeconomically diverse communities. She believes in a collaborative approach to school improvement and is passionate about building and sustaining professional learning communities (PLCs) with high-performing teams, data-driven decision making, and response to intervention. Her areas of expertise include PLC at Work® in priority schools, leadership, transforming school culture, and school improvement.
Vanessa has extensive experience successfully implementing the PLC at Work process in underperforming schools with diverse populations and has led two different campuses, Sam Rayburn High School and V.W. Miller Intermediate, to Model PLC at Work certification. Her current campus was recently recognized as one of the top 10 most pandemic-resilient schools in the Houston area by Children at Risk and continues to serve as a model for school turnaround. Vanessa was named a Secondary Principal Finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards and continues to advocate for and support education as a principal advocacy fellow.
As a graduate of the University of Houston–Clear Lake, Vanessa holds a master’s degree in educational leadership, a bachelor’s degree in history, and a superintendent certification in the state of Texas.
