Whitney K. Freije

Whitney K. Freije is an elementary school principal at A.F. Palmer Elementary, a Model PLC at Work® school in the Windsor Central School District, located in upstate New York. Previously, she served as an elementary school teacher, a middle school mathematics teacher, and a districtwide instructional coach.

Whitney specializes in empowering teachers with effective instructional practices to promote high levels of literacy and mathematics. She works closely with new and veteran teachers to encourage reflection and provide real-time support and specific feedback around instructional effectiveness. She is passionate about creating a culture where teachers embrace the notions of continuous improvement, collaboration, and an action-oriented approach to improving teaching and learning. Her work with guiding coalitions and collaborative teams is focused around the four critical questions of a PLC at Work and how to work collaboratively to systematically improve student outcomes for all.

Whitney has presented at both the regional and national levels. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Whitney earned her bachelor’s degree in childhood education from Canisius College; she holds a master’s degree in literacy and certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from Binghamton University.
