Jeremy Muse

Jeremy Muse, EdD, an established educational leader, has worked in education for more than 24 years. After leading annual student growth during his five years as principal of a K–8 school, he was named the 2022 Louisiana Middle School Principal of the Year and the school was named a Model PLC at Work® school by All Things PLC.

Dr. Muse is currently the director of human resources in Ascension Public Schools, a school system in south Louisiana with more than 22,000 students. A former teacher, he has taught every level from third through eighth grade. He went on to spend nine years as the assistant principal at a middle school and then five years as a K–8 principal. During his tenure as principal, he led the school to earn an “A” rating annually, including earning the designation of “Top Gains Designee” for student growth each year the honor was offered from the Louisiana Department of Education.

Dr. Muse is a past president of both the Baton Rouge Area Teachers of Mathematics and the Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics. During his career he has been named a school-level math teacher of the year, a district-level teacher of the year, and a state-level principal of the year and is a Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) Certified Professional. He has shared his expertise in utilizing student tracking and distributive leadership at both the state and national levels.

Dr. Muse earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Louisiana State University, a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
