Schools are being tested and burdened with an unprecedented variety of issues. They face academic challenges, social-emotional hurdles, and political and funding uncertainties. Adding to this pressure is the dire need for teachers during a record shortage, which means schools are now tasked with balancing urgent recruitment to fill vacancies and rapidly developing the skills of a new generation of educators who are learning while they lead in the classroom. Now more than ever, schools need to take a second look at their PLC efforts and learn how to fully benefit from collaboration. This workshop will help participants realize that our profession's greatest resource is the human resource. This is not the time to shy away from the PLC at Work process; this is the time to press forward.

During this hands-on training designed for school or districtwide teams, general and special educators will discover how to utilize PLC best practices to develop collaborative partnerships and identify high-leverage structures and strategies that will level the playing field, accelerate learning, and support success for all students.

Discover how to use Depth of Knowledge (DOK) to enhance teacher clarity around standards and ensure student understanding of learning objectives and outcomes. Examine what distinguishes DOK as a concept, framework, and language for teaching and learning. Explore how to use the DOK levels to develop and deliver teaching and learning experiences that are standards driven and student supportive. Leave with actionable and applicable strategies that will engage and encourage students to demonstrate and discuss their learning at different and deeper levels.

During this workshop, teams of teachers, counselors, building administrators, and district administrators will study four distinctive leadership behaviors proven to promote positive change: (1) communication, (2) trust building, (3) professional capacity, and (4) universal accountability.
