New Book Series Outlines Content-Specific Strategies for Best-Practice Instruction
Bloomington, Ind. (July 24, 2018)— The New Art and Science of Teaching series—jointly published by ASCD and Solution Tree—details how to use a comprehensive model of instruction to optimize student learning in reading, writing, mathematics, science, art and music.
The New Art and Science of Teaching framework, which is based on Robert J. Marzano’s 50 years of education research, includes:
- 3 Overarching Lesson Categories: (1) routine segments, (2) content segments and (3) on-the-spot segments.
- 10 Design Questions: A set of questions that help teachers plan units and lessons within those units.
- 43 Elements: These elements, or categories, of instruction include over 330 specific classroom strategies.
In addition to content-specific books, the series includes an assessment-specific resource designed to help teachers of all subject areas create assessments that more accurately reflect course curriculum and student progress. Readers can also go online to purchase The New Art and Science of Teaching online course, as well as The New Art and Science of Teaching PD Playlist, which features 32 professional development videos aligned with the series’ content.
