New Resource Offers 100-Day Path for Leading Focused, Meaningful Change
Bloomington, Ind. (July 23, 2019)—In 100-Day Leaders: Turning Short-Term Wins Into Long-Term Success in Schools—published by Solution Tree—authors Douglas Reeves and Robert Eaker offer a succinct and powerful guide on how to build a high-leverage system of leadership that is designed to be implemented in the short period of 100 days.
With an understanding of the burdens and time constraints placed on school leaders and teachers in the 21st century, the authors have created a comprehensive plan to implement strong and continuing leadership in an extremely short period of time.
“Although leaders can’t add hours to the day, they can make every hour more productive and focused. If you have felt the frustration of too many demands on your time and a horizon full of things to get done, then this book is for you,” explain the authors.
The book is split into two parts. Part one considers the why and how of 100-day leadership, exploring the moral imperative of leadership and then looking at the six steps to becoming a 100-day leader. Part two considers the environment for success for 100-day leaders and the educational systems they guide—the professional learning community.
“Making a significant impact during the first 100 days requires a leader to first look inside, examining his or her own beliefs, assumptions, and behaviors before looking to others and articulating what they need to do,” explain the authors.
The authors devised a six-stage plan toward stronger leadership, with each stage focusing on a necessary part of the process of implementation: identifying your values, taking an initiative inventory, making a not-to-do list, identifying 100-day challenges, specifying professional practices to monitor and specifying results.
“Although leaders must see the big picture, they also understand the details of implementation, team by team, task by task, kid by kid, and skill by skill,” explain the authors.
